Free Camping and Boondocking at Lake Meredith NRA

Located an hour north of Amarillo, TX, high in the Texas Panhandle, Lake Meredith offers boating and swimming recreation in an otherwise dry, arid plain. Steep, 200-foot cliffs line the north side of the lake, with beachfront recreation and camping on the south side. While managed by the National Park Service, this is one of the few parks and recreation areas where they do not charge an entrance fee, and most of their campgrounds are also free of charge.
