Game Warden Slough

A much larger campground than the District’s other offering at Peeler Park, Game Warden Slough offers numerous lakeside campsites with breathtaking views. Many of these sites, however, can be difficult to get into for large RVs due to the hilly nature of the shoreline.

Otherwise, Game Warden Slough is rarely visited during the week, and even during weekends, there’s still plenty of campsites available.

Interestingly, the Water District does not name this “Game Warden Slough”, they simply call it, “Public Recreation Area”. The name “Game Warden Slough” apparently comes from Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

The park closes after 8:00pm and does not reopen until 8:00am. However, campers are allowed to stay overnight.
