Camping at Sawmill Campground

A popular stopping point for hikers along the Pacific Crest Trail, Sawmill Campground is surrounded by pine and oak trees on top of a mountain ridge.

The campground is spread out enough that you can enjoy a bit of privacy from other campers, assuming there are other campers. Because of its location, and because of the road up, it’s rarely used by vehicle-based campers. The access road is largely smooth and firm-packed for any vehicle, except for the last tight curve down into the campground which gets rocky and bumpy. The campsites themselves are small, limit to trailers no longer than 16 feet. 4WD is only required during wet weather.

A Forest Adventure Pass (see retail sales locations) or Interagency Pass (purchase one online) is required to camp here.

You must access this campground from Pine Canyon Road due to a road closure off of Old Ridge Route / Quail Lake Road.
