Slaton City Park Campground

Slaton City Park

County of Lubbock

Free Camping in Slaton, Texas

This RV park is located in the middle of a city park, along side a chain link fence. There are electrical hookups marking each site. Some of the sites have water hookups, but not all. It does not appear there are sewer hookups, at least not anymore. Otherwise, it's a decent night stay, but during the day it's very busy, and many locals tend to park their cars in the RV sites.

Slaton City Park Campground

Technically, this park is owned and operated by the County of Lubbock, even though it’s referred to as “Slaton City Park”. The community center building, located along the Garza Street-side of the park, acts as the park’s headquarters. There are no reservations for these sites, and your stay is limited to three (3) days, but it’s free.

Oddly, many of the electrical boxes at these sites have been locked up with padlocks, preventing you from being able to plug in. A few of the boxes remain unlocked. It appears that only two of the sites have working water hookups. We were not able to locate sewer hookups nor dump station.

It’s gets busy here during the day, but becomes nearly desolate at night, making for relative peace and quiet. You can still hear street noise from nearby Garza Street and Crosby Street.
