Camping at Bighorn Campground

Located about 1/2 mile from downtown Glenwood, NM, Bighorn Campground is a convenient location along US Highway 180. It’s the closest designated campground to the Catwalk National Recreation Area, and is within a 30 minute drive to the Mogollon ghost town area. The landscape is mostly pinon and juniper trees.

One of the more popular Forest Service campgrounds in the area due to it’s proximity to town and Catwalk National Recreation Area, it’s difficult to find an open campsite here, even during mid-week. If you do manage to score a site, you can still expect to see traffic filing through the campground looking for a site, and then hear semi-trucks along US-180 well into the evening.

The campground is sloped down towards the south slightly, requiring some kind of leveling effort.
