Camping at Cardinal Point
There are also a few other previously-used campsites in this area. There’s one just after crossing over the levee off to the left as you’re driving in that offers a lot of shade with enough room to pull in a medium-sized trailer and then back it in.
During the summers, this place gets crowded on the weekend. It’s mostly known as a beach swimming area for afternoon visitors. The beach is covered over with grass, and supports enough room for a dozen cars, vans, and trucks. Larger RVs can fit along a wide shoulder along the circular driveway.
There are no facilities here aside from picnic tables. No water, no dump station.
Cardinal Point Recreation Area requires no permits and no reservations. You’re best to arrive between Monday to Thursday to secure a site before the weekend.
