Hickory Point Recreation Area

Because this camping area is free, the Corps only provides basic maintenance. However, it’s still not that bad in terms of trash and weeds. It’s actually in better shape than Highway 31 Landing Recreation Area, located about 10 minutes away.

The one large camping loop for full-sized RVs is in decent shape, roadwise, it’s “fairly” easy to navigate and get in and out of. There is a well-shaded back in space against the river bank. It’s a great place to bring kayaks or a canoe and do some fishing. The other camping loop for small to medium sized rigs is in decent shape as well.

Verizon 4G cellular signal is near non-existent here.

Otherwise, Hickory Point Recreation Area is a popular place for local fishermen, and this is also a hunting area when in season.
