Boondocker's Bible

Camping at Forest Road 64J

With supplies and fuel just a mile away in the town of Tres Piedras, boondocking off of Forest Road 64J becomes a convenient place to hole up for a few days or the full two weeks.

Once you enter on to the road from US-64, you’ll see the green water tower and know you’re on the right road. You can set up camp anywhere along this road, however your vehicle cannot drive more than 300 feet from either side of the road. But that shouldn’t be an issue because there are plenty of campsites to find here.

The road condition is firm packed dirt, suitable for any 2WD vehicle. There are places where it get rutted from mud; as long as the ground is dry, it shouldn’t be much a problem towing a heavy trailer or driving a large motorhome.
