Camping at Cebolla Mesa Campground

Cebolla Mesa Campground is approached via Forest Road 9, starting from State Highway 522, about 4.9 miles south of the town center of Questa. Forest Road 9 is hard-packed dirt, suitable for 2WD vehicles, but is bumpy and rutted, and you may feel better taking a high clearance vehicle instead.

The campground features five campsites, accommodating small to medium-sized vehicles and RVs up to about 24 feet in length. But there are numerous spur roads leading north of the campground taking you to dozens of dispersed campsites, many of which are large enough for full-sized RVs. There is no trash service here.

Cebolla Mesa Campground is a popular base camp for hikers and fishermen seeking recreation along the Rio Grande. It remains lightly trafficked, particularly during the weekdays, allowing visitors to often find open campsites without much difficulty. The weekends get crowded from locals coming up from Taos and Questa.
