Camping at McAdams Pond River Access
This single site is has tree shade during the Spring and Summer months with brief periods of sunshine depending on the time of day. It’s very quiet here due to this road dead-ending. You can hear the sounds of birds chirping all day long. At night, this place becomes noisy with the rumble of crickets, frogs, cicadas, and katydids. Mosquitoes abound here, and you wouldn’t want to enjoy the campfire without 100% Deet.
This campsite is located within the Wildlife Management Unit of Tishomingo NWR. It’s one of seven (7) official campsites within the WMU, and camping within the WMU is restricted to just these sites.
Verizon Wireless 4G comes in at only 1 bar, and is all but useless without a booster or a much larger antenna to plug into. The heavy tree cover makes Starlink useless here too. But if you can do without Internet access, it’s a still great place to write a book, explore, fish, or photograph wildlife.
There is a turnaround at this campsite, but it’s small, and won’t accommodate trailers larger than 20 feet.
