Camping at Black Canyon Campground – Lower
Located in a remote area of forest approximately 30 miles from the Wilderness Ranger District office. This campground is accessible from FR 150, and driving approximately .5 miles from the road, across the stream. You will enter an area with a newer vault toilet and a beautiful meadow next to the stream.
Not many people camp here, and it appears the Forest Service does not maintain this campground frequently enough due to vegetation growth through the three campsites. But this is about as secluded as you can get from a developed campground in this ranger district.
This campground does offer a bit more room than Black Canyon Campground – Upper, and you could find enough space to fit a small to medium-sized trailer. However, the road up here does not allow a trailer due to the rocks, bumps, and dips, unless your trailer is built for this kind of abuse.
