Boondocking in Illinois!

Boondocking in Illinois is not a common option for dispersed campers due to the state having few federal recreation lands. There is only one national forest, Shawnee NF located in the southern portion, and no BLM lands. There are however, state lands in the form of wildlife management areas and state lakes.
