Learn about camping and boondocking in Iowa

Boondocking in Iowa!

Boondocking in Iowa remains a challenge due to the lack of federal recreation lands. There are no national forests, no BLM lands, not even any National Park Service lands. All dispersed camping is restricted to state wildlife management areas, state fishing lakes, and some county parks. There are casinos that generally allow RVers to remain parked on their parking lots for multiple nights.
